The friendship between Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez began in 2008 when they were both dating Jonas Brothers – Swift with Joe and Gomez with Nick. Taylor Swift received the support of her famous friends during her attendance at the American Music Awards. While taking home the first-ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence, Swift was seen hugging Lorde, Karlie Kloss, and Selena Gomez in the audience. Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez were spotted hugging Lorde as they hit up HBO’s Golden Globes afterparty together in 2015. Another instance where we saw the two BFFs hanging out was on March 8, 2015, when they had a cozy tea party.

Swift and Gomez joined forces on stage during Swift’s performance at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The two singers wore matching black and white outfits and sang Gomez’s hit “Good For You.” Following the show, Gomez expressed her excitement on Instagram, stating that after nearly eight years of friendship, she couldn’t wait to tell their future children that they had performed together in front of thousands of people, not once but twice. Before her 30th birthday party, Selena Gomez enjoyed a private celebration with Taylor Swift over dinner, which she shared photos of on Instagram. In an interview with Rolling Stone to promote her documentary “My Mind and Me,” Gomez admitted that she struggled to make friends in the industry and that Swift was her only friend.
