At 54, Jennifer Lopez has never looked better. With a body seemingly carved by the gods, she is also in possession of an equally beautiful face, hair, skin, and everything in between. How on earth does she do it? As well as a healthy portion of really good genetics, Vogue takes a look at the treatments and experts she sees as part of her beauty and wellness routine.
The skin
As well as using skincare from J Lo Beauty, which comprises everything from a sheet mask to a gel cream cleanser, Lopez also enjoys a facial with Toska Husted. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Husted (who works with everyone from Kim Kardashian to Jennifer Aniston) deploys all manner of techniques, from face massage to light therapy and microcurrent, alongside Biologique Recherche skin-care products. Lopez visited her a week before she performed at the Super Bowl in 2020.
The brows
Behind the eyebrows of many of the world’s most famous women is Anastasia Soare, founder of Anastasia Beverly Hills. Queen of the Hollywood power brow, Soare believes that a professionally-shaped eyebrow can do more for the face than many injectable treatments. “A well-shaped eyebrow is like a mini facelift because it lifts your features—there is no question about it,” she previously told Vogue. “All of the other injectable treatments are good, but eyebrows are the most important.”
The hair
That glam, voluminous hair that Lopez does so well? British hairstylist Chris Appleton is regularly the man behind it, styling countless looks in her honey-blonde hair. From retro high ponytails to long, loose waves, Appleton is the king of a show-stopping ’do.
The makeup
As with most stars, J Lo works with a lot of different makeup artists, but Mary Phillips is one of her longtime go-tos for signature bronze goddess looks. From fluttery lashes and soft taupe eyes to glossy lips and bold brows, the pair create looks made for the camera.
The body
The abs; the legs; the arms; the bum—you name the body part and Lopez has toned it. The woman who helps her get into such astounding shape? Tracy Anderson, who is also Gwyneth Paltrow, Victoria Beckham, and Madonna’s personal trainer. The Tracy Anderson Method is designed to work the smaller muscles in the body to help create definition and tone while strengthening. “It is your body’s right [to exercise],” she previously told Vogue. “Just like sleeping or nourishing it with good food. Moving it is about you connecting with you.”
The bum
While Lopez certainly trains hard, that’s not to say she doesn’t also have a little help. The star swears by the EMSculpt Butt Lift, a non-invasive treatment, which utilizes electromagnetic technology to lift, firm, strengthen and tone the muscles. While J Lo is known to use it for her pert behind, it can also be used on the ab area. “It’s the equivalent of doing 20,000 squats in one session,” says Dr. Tracy Mountford, founder of The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, where the treatment is offered.
The nails
The master behind Lopez’s immaculate, shapeshifting manicures is nail artist Tom Bachik. The pro gave her milky nails for her second marriage celebration with Ben Affleck and more recently, has helped her achieve seasonal perfection with warm mocha and moody burgundy manicures for fall.
