Selena Gomez looked radiant as she left her Los Angeles home on Thursday. The 27-year-old pop icon was poised and elegant in an all-black ensemble. The Wolves singer appeared to be in high spirits after visiting friends for lunch.

She cut a classic figure while teaming a pair of pleated-front trousers with a short-sleeve top that featured barely-there embossing. Adding a bit of sparkle, she layered two necklaces on top of her ensemble, including a chunky gold chain from Missoma. All the while, she carried her things in a handsome crocodile-skin bag. Simple leather slides rounded out the ensemble. The Texas native went for subdued glam, letting her natural waves skim her collarbone while showcasing her natural beauty with simple makeup.

Earlier this week, the famous celebrity returned to her former middle school to pay a visit to her alma mater, Danny Jones Middle School. She shared the occasion through an Instagram video that began with the Wolves soundtrack announcing over the intercom, “Hello, students at Danny Jones Middle School. This is Selena Gomez talking to you.” The footage showed images of the Spring Breakers actress being greeted by students, and she said, “This trip, I wanted to take my best friend Courtney and also some of my people from my label, just to show them where I grew up and how proud I am of where I’m from.” She added, “Some of my teachers I got to see again, and they were part of my life for so long.”
Displaying her hometown pride, the actress of Spring Breakers discounted the notion of being greeted by students, saying “This trip, I wanted to take my best friend Courtney and also some of my people from my label, just to show them where I grew up and how proud I am of where I come from.” She emphasized that her trip was not about the glamour of being recognized, but rather about showcasing her roots.
Selena embraces and greets her former school’s current students, including her seventh-grade basketball coach Stephanie Gray, who described Selena as humble and kind. Gray also remembers when Selena told her she was leaving school to pursue an acting career in Florida. Gray initially thought Selena was exaggerating, but now knows she was serious.

Gray recalled that Selena was incredibly humble and kind when they were students. In addition to visiting their old teachers, Gomez returned to an essential part of any high school – the writing on the bathroom walls. She appeared to be a prolific scribbler, showing off a wall full of her own doodles. Like many teens, her etchings focused on crushes. In her jokey caption, Selena described her graffiti, saying, “Apparently my heart was very conflicted between Juan and Cole Sprouse when I was 11.”
While visiting her old teachers, Gomez also made sure to stop by an essential part of any secondary school: the writing on the bathroom wall, where she had scribbled about her crush. Gomez, who underwent a kidney transplant in 2017 related to her lupus, has been focusing on her health and mental well-being. As a result, her work has taken somewhat of a backseat during the past couple of years. She last released a single in May 2018; “Back To You” was from the soundtrack to season 2 of the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. Also in 2018, she lent her voice once again to the character of Mavis in Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation and was part of the cast of Jim Jarmusch’s film The Dead Don’t Die that was released in theaters in June.
