Jennifer Lopez is no stranger to wearing extravagant, enormous dresses while working in New York City. But yesterday, the 51-year-old singer went full fairy tale in a tulle light blue sleeveless gown, channeling Cinderella at the New Year’s Eve ball…but in freezing, 35-degree weather. She accessorized with thigh high patent boots, a cropped jacket (that she sometimes didn’t wear outside), and layers upon layers of silver chain necklaces. The entire look was by Balmain, and she wore it to pre-tape her New Year’s Rockin’ Eve performance in Times Square. No one else was around (or at least within 12 feet visibly), hence no mask.

Lopez teased the full ensemble on her Instagram, posing in a subway station. “ONE DAY!!! I’ve got my eye on you @rockineve ✨?✨ Let’s go!!!!” Lopez wrote.

Lopez spoke in December to Billboard about why she is determined to do big things in her career, including performing at the Super Bowl, regardless of her age and the entertainment industry’s treatment of older people.

“As a woman, people want to write you off: ‘Who’s the next hot girl?’ When you’re an actress, you’re always waiting for that,” she said. “I decided I’m not going to let that happen. I’m going to keep surprising everybody, and I’m going to keep surprising myself. In 2018, we did a sweet movie called Second Act, and I did a song for it called ‘Limitless’ that Sia wrote. It became my mantra. I went on the It’s My Party Tour [in 2019] and I sang that every night. I got to celebrate with my family and my fans and tell them, ‘You’re limitless.’ This message you’re trying to give everyone really becomes a part of you.”
